G4S Measures up to International Expectations for Agilent
Switching to a single strategic security partner is paying dividends for Agilent Technologies
No one in the world does tests and measurements better than Agilent Technologies. Its products and services are used in more than 100 countries to enable scientists, researchers and engineers to operate with precision and confidence. In doing so, it plays a major role in scientific and technological advances around the globe.
So, when Agilent tested and measured its own security operations, it soon concluded a new approach was needed. In its review, Agilent not only examined the contribution of its current security providers but also reassessed which services it really needed and which of its in-house operations could be outsourced.
At that time, the world’s premier measurement company was using the services of more than a dozen security services providers to protect its analytical instrument manufacturing units and other prime premises at over 170 locations in nearly 30 countries.
Changing to a single strategic security solutions provider, Agilent’s global security department concluded, would not only improve consistency but also cost-effectiveness, and senior management gave the bold plan its support. All that remained, says Barry Gentry, global security manager and chief privacy officer at Agilent Technologies, was to find a company that could deliver what was expected of it and also be “integral to the protection of Agilent.”
Two years after G4S won the Agilent international account, Gentry reports a 10 percent reduction in worldwide costs for security services achieved within the first 90 days of making the switch – effective Jan. 1, 2009. Not only that, but he has “a model that provides the right balance of risk in protecting a global company while adhering to forecast costs.”
