G4S plays a huge role in the success of The Wimbledon Tennis Championship

G4S provide an event management solution for the championship which begins each year a long time before the event actually begins.

From around January each year, G4S commence the process of recruiting security officers for the event. Security checks and vetting procedures are of paramount important and successful applicants have to undertake a training programme to the highest level, of which 50% require a license from the Security Industry Authority.

Once the Championship is underway, G4S personnel provide a highly visible security presence, carrying out security checks as people enter the ground, monitoring queues, patrolling the grounds whilst all the time being connected to the emergency team should problems arise.

G4S carry out x ray checks of any vehicle authorised to enter the grounds and to be more efficient this is carried out externally to the ground then the vehicle is escorted securely into the ground. This is an enormous operation for G4S and they work in partnership with the All England Lawn & Tennis Club to deliver each year.

Richard Oxborrow, The Championship Coordinator confirmed “G4S isn’t simply securing the grounds, or even The Championships themselves, but they are protecting our assets, our history and our tradition”.
