G4S Secure Integration provided engineering and design services for a fiber optic network reaching schools and administration buildings

The Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, stretching from the peaks of the Continental Divide to the Denver suburbs. There are 55 schools located over 500 square miles providing education to more than 28,500 students and employment to more than 4,000 employees.

Each year, BVSD graduates are awarded millions of dollars in scholarships and score well above the state and national averages on the ACT and SAT college entrance exams. Students are at the top in the state in the Colorado Student Assessment Program results.

G4S Secure Integration provided engineering and design services for a fiber optic network reaching schools and administration buildings for the Boulder Valley School District. This was the first step in the implementation of a network to support internal voice and data requirements of the district’s 63 schools. This project began in December of 2007.

The objective was to design a fiber optic network, significantly benefitting BVSD by providing high-speed telecommunications services to the District’s facilities and the ability to interconnect with existing government agency networks. Unlimited flexibility of bandwidth and lower costs versus lease lines are also added benefits. The network consists of a combination of existing conduits, duct-bank, and rights-of-way. The district has acquired the right to use existing conduits and other facilities from the City of Boulder.
