2007 community initiatives
G4S employees found many ways to give back to the communities they serve in 2007
Toys for Tots Program in Nebraska (2007):
Each year the G4S Secure Solutions team in Omaha, Nebraska team chooses a primary community service project to support. The office team focused their support on the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.
Broward (Florida) 15th Annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade (2007):
G4S Security Officers assigned to the Broward Health Protective Services Department helped families in need by collecting more than 300 pounds of food for the Children's Diagnostic and Treatment Center's 15th Annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade. The security teams from Broward General Medical Center, North Broward Medical Center, Imperial Point Medical Center, Coral Springs Medical Center, and the 7th Avenue Family Health Center filled 15 baskets with non-perishable items to help deliver complete Thanksgiving meals to families in need.
Columbine (Colorado) Memorial Dedication (2007):
When the Columbine Memorial Community needed security for the Columbine Memorial dedication in Jefferson County, Colorado, local law enforcement recommended they call G4S Secure Solutions (f/k/a Wackenhut). G4S local management did a security assessment to determine the necessary resources and then met with the committee to relay their recommendations.
They agreed to take the job, but with a catch: There would be no charge. On September 17, 2007 the Denver office deployed G4S Custom Protection Officer® personnel to the memorial with instructions to restrict access and protect the site until it was unveiled to the public and to the media on September 21st.
Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina (2007-2008):
G4S Compliance & Investigations employees donated 691 pounds of food which will provide 581 meals. Employees also volunteered for two 3 hour shifts sorting more 24,000 pounds of food to be distributed.
Penny Wars for Autism (2007-2008):
G4S Compliance & Investigations Employees raised $500 (one penny at a time) for the Autism Society of North Carolina. Fundraiser was held in conjunction with diversity initiative for Autism Awareness month.
Latino Community Outreach (2007-2008):
