G4S Secure Solutions Tucson, Arizona office focused their community service efforts on creating jobs and a sense of community in the town of Bowie, Arizona. In addition to hiring from within the local community when they were awarded the Bowie Power Station contract, the office also supported the town's community center (aka Rural Accent).
The town has a population of 600 and 25 percent of the residents live below poverty level. The center is a place for kids to go and "be kids” and it also functions as a food bank. The local paper reported Tucson’s community-focused activities on January 7, 2009: "On Christmas Eve, members of Rural Accent, Inc. in Bowie, and members of GS4 Security (based in Tucson), which provides services to the Bowie Power Station, provided Christmas gifts and food to the community of Bowie.
G4S provided the Community Center and Food Bank in Bowie with 25 boxes of food, additional boxes of games (including a Playstation), arts and crafts supplies, clothing, books and 25 Christmas stockings. More than 17 families received gifts from G4S and Rural Accent."
